Who is responsible for water hygiene in a commercial building?
The employer, the landlord, or the person in control of the premises is known as the “Duty Holder.” They are legally responsible for ensuring the risk of Legionella is properly assessed and managed.
Do I need to clean my water tank every year?
Not necessarily. ACOP L8 requires that tanks are inspected annually. If the inspection shows a build-up of scale, sludge, or biofilm, or if a water sample returns a poor result, then a full clean and chlorination must be carried out.
