The Project
One of our long-standing SLP (Self-Lay Provider) customers required pressure testing, chlorinating and sampling of just over 150 meters of 125mm and 63mm mains. The highest standards of water quality, safety, and structural integrity was paramount.
Our Approach
Pressure Testing
Prior to chlorinating and sampling, our team conducted thorough hydrostatic pressure testing to verify the structural soundness of the new pipework. This advanced testing method subjects the pipes to controlled pressures that exceed their normal operating levels, allowing us to identify and address any potential weaknesses or leaks before commissioning.
Chlorinating and Sampling
- First, we carefully prepared the pipes, isolating sections and ensuring all components were pristine and ready for treatment.
- Next, we introduced a controlled chlorine solution, maintaining optimal concentration levels necessary for effective disinfection. The chlorinated water was circulated throughout the pipe network, allowing sufficient contact time to inactivate any potential pathogens or contaminants.
- Throughout the process, we closely monitored chlorine residuals and other key water quality parameters using our advanced testing equipment. This vigilance ensured the chlorinating and sampling process met rigorous standards.
- Once disinfection was complete, we thoroughly flushed the system to remove all traces of the chlorine solution.
- Finally, we conducted comprehensive sampling and testing at various locations to verify the water's safety for consumption, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards.
